WHERE IS SNOWBOXX?
Snowboxx takes place in the ski resort of Cardrona, a top tier ski destination in the Southern Alps. Cardrona is New Zealand’s most popular ski area, attracting all kinds of snow enthusiasts – from beginners & families, to Olympic & X Games athletes. There are plenty of pistes and parks for all levels, and loads of off-piste entertainment too! The nearest airport is Queenstown, and the accommodation is in Wanaka, just a short drive from the resort.
WHAT ARE THE DATES OF THE FESTIVAL?
Snowboxx 2021 will take place from Tuesday 7th September to Tuesday 14th of September.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE TICKET?
Our ready-to-book packages are the best way to get your group holiday sorted. All our packages include festival wristband and accommodation.
The price per person will vary depending on the size of your group and your choice of accommodation. Prices start at $440 per person for a 7-day stay - that includes accommodation and festival wristband!
WHAT IS THE FESTIVAL PROGRAM LIKE?
During the day you can enjoy the breath-taking pistes of Cardrona and Treble Cone, or, if you feel so inclined, start the day with one of our legendary hip hop or disco lunches. Once you are done with the shred you can, literally, ski into one of our epic après sessions to brag about your slope skills and dance the day away.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, world class headliners take over our main stage, a massive open air arena. Music at the main stage finishes at 21:00 so you can enjoy incredible performances and still make it to the first lift in the morning. However, if you still have energy, the party carries on at the downtown venues until the early hours.
WHAT ABOUT LIFT PASSES?
Lift passes are not included in the price of the packages (that would be too good) but you can add these during the booking process and enjoy a hefty discount!
HOW DOES THE DEPOSIT SCHEME WORK?
You can reserve your spot at the current price with only a $100pp deposit and pay the rest throughout the year.
The payment deadline varies depending on when you book but it’s usually at least a couple months ahead. This date can be found both on our booking site (during the booking process) and on your booking confirmation once the booking is completed. We will also send you a reminder to give you enough time to finalise any payments. Please add our address to your contact list to ensure you receive your reminder.
WHAT ARE THE SNOW CONDITIONS LIKE IN CARDRONA IN SEPTEMBER?
Cardrona’s high elevation and southerly aspect means dry natural snow is plentiful. Historically early September is the best time of the year to enjoy deep snow, higher chances of bluebirds and less crowded pistes!
WHAT IS THE CLOSEST AIRPORT?
Wanaka is located in the South Island of New Zealand, with three international airports in close proximity: Queenstown, Dunedin and Christchurch.
Queenstown Airport is the closest international gateway to the Wanaka region, with regular flights from all major Australian cities, as well as daily services from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and is just a scenic 60-minute drive from Wanaka.
DO YOU PROVIDE AIRPORT TRANSFERS?
Snowboxx offers transfers from Queenstown to Wanaka. Our transfers will pick you up at the airport and take you to one of the arrival points in Wanaka, making your journey super easy.
Transfers can be added during the booking process and via manage booking.
WHICH DAYS DO TRANSFERS OPERATE?
We will have morning and afternoon transfers operating throughout the week between Wanaka and Queenstown Airport.
WHERE ARE THE DROP OFF POINTS IN WANAKA?
When you arrive in Wanaka your transfer will drop you off at one of the various drop off points nearest to your accommodation. From there you can either walk or book a taxi for yourself and your luggage to take you to your accommodation.
WHAT IS THE TRANSFER TIMETABLE?
Shuttle Service - Airport to Wanaka and Cardrona Service
11:45 - Travel via Crown Range, can drop off at the Cardrona Ski Field or one of our Wanaka arrival points. Traditionally takes between 1hr-1hr 15, although depends on the road conditions.
16:55 - Travel via Cromwell, can drop off at any of the Wanaka drop off points. No access to Cardrona on this route.Traditionally takes between 1hr 30-1hr 40, although depends on the road conditions.
Shuttle Service - Wanaka and Cardrona to Airport Service
8:05 - Depart Wanaka and travel via Cromwell. No Cardrona access. Drop off at the airport. Traditionally takes between 1hr 30-1hr 40, although depends on the road conditions.
13:05 - Depart Wanaka and travel via Crown Range. No access to Cardrona on this route. Drop off at the airport. Traditionally takes between 1hr-1hr 15, although depends on the road conditions.
When you arrive in Wanaka your transfer will drop you off at one of the various Snowboxx drop off points nearest to your accommodation. From there you may wish to either walk or book a taxi for yourself and your luggage that will then take you to your chosen accommodation.
WHERE CAN I FIND MY AIRPORT TRANSFER INFORMATION?
You will be sent a pre-trip email with all the important information for your trip such as transfer details a couple of weeks before you depart.
HOW DO I GET TO AND FROM THE RESORT?
Return shuttle buses will be operating during the festival week from Wanaka to Cardrona. The Shuttle Bus Ticket will allow use of the shuttle bus during all operating hours of Snowboxx. Coming soon!
WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT FOR THE FESTIVAL?
Snowboxx is for adults only. All festival related events are 18+
CAN I BOOK FOR SHORTER THAN THE FULL WEEK?
Yes, the minimum stay is 4 days (3 nights). However, we recommend staying the full week to make the most out of the experience! Note not all the apartments are available to book for less than a week so you may see less options if your selected dates are not the full week.
The main stage opens three nights a week, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The main headliners will perform then.
WHERE CAN I FIND FRIENDS TO GO WITH?
We can recommend that you perhaps link up with other Snowboxx guests who are attending on their own or in smaller groups. You can find our Shared Trips Facebook page here to find other like-minded guests to attend with.
WE ARE A LARGE GROUP, HOW CAN WE BOOK?
Large groups may need to book more than one apartment. You can have a maximum of 14 people in 1 apartment (subject to availability). Check this by entering the number of people that you will attend with on our booking page then all of the available options will be displayed in the next step.
DO YOU OFFER ANY GROUP DISCOUNTS?
If you are booking for a large group of 9 or more people, you may be entitled to a special discount. You can inquire about this upon booking by contacting email@example.com or via our live chat service on the booking site.
CAN I ADD SOMEONE TO MY BOOKING?
Yes you can do that via manage booking. The booking balance will be adjusted automatically. If you have any questions about this feel free to contact our customer service team.
A PERSON ON OUR BOOKING CAN’T MAKE IT ANYMORE, CAN WE CHANGE THE NAME TO SOMEONE ELSE?Yes, no problem. This costs $40 per person and must be completed online via the manage booking portal. Name changes can be made up until 1 month before the event as the information must be given to the accommodation providers well in advance.

HOW DO I PAY THE REST OF MY BALANCE?
Payments are made via the manage booking portal which you can access through the booking confirmation you'll receive or the link on the footer of our website. Each member of the group can login and make payments using separate cards.
BESIDES THE SKIING AND THE MUSIC EVENTS, WHAT ELSE IS AVAILABLE?
A week of skiing and raving is already an epic plan but there is a lot more to do at Snowboxx! The week is jam-packed with exhilarating activities, from legendary hip hop and disco lunches to hilarious slopeside games. If that wasn’t enough, there is also an excellent selection of food (and bubbles) across the resort and downtown in Wanaka, paired with great kiwi hospitality.
WHERE DO MUSIC EVENTS TAKE PLACE?
The music events will take place at Cardrona, Treble Cone and Wanaka which offers truly spectacular views over Lake Wānaka and will make for one of the most scenic festival settings in the world. Lift passes grant access to both Cardrona and Treble Cone so you will be able to explore all the corners of this incredible dual mountain resort.
WHEN WILL MY TICKET ARRIVE?
Wristbands are to be collected in person at the event and won’t be sent to any address. You can collect your wristband with your booking ID and photographic ID - we recommend keeping the confirmation email handy for this.
We will detail where you will pick your wristband from in your pre-trip information document that you receive around 2 weeks before the event.
CAN I BOOK A SNOWBOXX WRISTBAND AND LIFT PASS WITHOUT ACCOMMODATION?
Tickets without accommodation are on sale now! You can book them here. You can also book a lift pass for the week of the event through us, which is a much better price than buying directly.
WHAT DOES THE WRISTBAND GIVE ACCESS TO?
Booking a full-week ticket allows you to enjoy the full Snowboxx experience whilst arranging your own accommodation.What's included:

CAN I CHANGE THE NAME ON MY TICKET?
Name changes can be made via your login on the manage booking portal. We can accept these no later than 7th August. After this, they can no longer be accepted.

WILL THE ARTISTS BE ABLE TO ATTEND DUE TO COVID?
We have brought together some of New Zealand’s best home-grown talent for one hell of a party. Rather than hedging our bets on borders being open and booking international artists, we want to bring people together, safely, for a festival that will be the envy of the rest of the world.
WILL SOME INTERNATIONAL ACTS BE ANNOUNCED NOW THAT BORDERS ARE OPENING?
No, rather than booking international artists and hedging our bets on borders being open, this year we are booking a 100% Kiwi line up. There is incredible homegrown talent in NZ and we feel confident these acts will deliver epic performances on our slopeside stages, without having to worry about last minute drop outs.
HOW CAN I APPLY TO DJ AT THE EVENT?
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and your request will be sent to the relevant department. Please note that due to a high volume of requests, we can only get back to those who we would like to hear more from.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE TRIP IS CANCELLED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS?
In the event of a full cancellation or rescheduled date, ticket-holders will be entitled to transfer their ticket to a rescheduled show, or a full face value refund on their package.
I WILL BE TRAVELLING FROM AUSTRALIA. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS ARE STILL IN PLACE AND I AM UNABLE TO GET TO NEW ZEALAND?
We are monitoring the talks around the Trans-Tasman bubble. There have been some positive developments lately but we still don’t have 100% certainty that this will be in place for September.
If you decide to book a ticket for Snowboxx 2021 but are unable to travel to the event because the
Trans-Tasman bubble is not in place, we will give you the option to move your booking to Snowboxx 2022. Customers who voluntarily choose to cancel their booking as they are unable to travel to New Zealand, will be subject to the standard cancellation T&Cs.
If the Trans-Tasman bubble is still in place closer to the event, we will be releasing an allocation of tickets for residents of Australia. If you would like to be notified when these tickets go on sale, please sign up here.
I LIVE OUTSIDE NZ OR AUSTRALIA. WILL I BE ABLE TO ATTEND THIS YEAR?
International passengers are only allowed to enter NZ for critical purposes this year. If you reside outside NZ or Australia, we will be happy to welcome you to our next edition!
